It occurred to me that now we're dealing with relatively unknown
instruments and systems and their deviations from what the general public now
accepts as what a clarinet is or should be, has anyone heard of a Prufer
clarinet? It was available sometime in the 50s, but when it was first offered for
sale in the US and how long the brand stayed is rather hazy. I
"overhauled" one a while back and it definitely was different ... not easy to work on.

It's relatively easy to adjust to as it's quite logical really. The real
problem with the more complex (different) mechanisms, is keeping them in
good adjustment.
