I believe that I still have a lot to offer this student. I never just
listen to students practice, but, try to get them to think about how to
solve problems, how to phrase, are there different ways to phrase this
passage, etc. The worse thing to me would be to sit and drill scales
and exercises and not work on music. The practice room at home is for
scales. I do listen to them, but, just to check fingerings and monitor
progress. I devote lessons to music, not notes.
