Mary, I'd suggest trying a much higher quality reed such as the Rico Reserve #2 1/2. Also, the Fobes debut is a good way to go for mouthpieces. Think of the tune of the song that you are playing - play it like you would want to hear someone sing it.
Also, your tongue is much too heavy on the reed. coulee me lessons with a known teacher to help get you over the sound issue.
