I have also made ligatures out of velcro, only I sewed the bits to a piece
of wide (black) elastic -- worked just fine, although it's in the bottom of
my bass case. I should dig it out and see what it's like -- it's at least 10
years old.
I have also made an emergency ligature out of a pipe strap/clamp lined with
duct tape. It lives in the pocket of my case. It works surprisingly well!

Hi, Here=B4s the wiking again! This time with a suggestion to the cheapest
ligature you ever had. I saw in the book of David Pino (The clarinet and
Clarinet playing), that he uses a shoestring, and he also mentions something
about velcro. Today I=B4ve tryed a rubberband as ligature. It works fine, b=

is a bit awkward on-and-off. Later my wife gave me a piece of velcro, and I
made sort of a ring out of it. The size of the ring I made (once for all)
so, that it fits over my mouthpiece with the reed on it, not too tight, not
too slack. It works fine, and I think my tone has become better (I used to
use metalligature earliere). Can anybody tell me, why I should offer 150 $
on an ordinairy ligature, as long as my velcro ring is doing a fine job?
