I bought my Bb R13 in spring 2006. It was the perfect instrument until fall 2006 when a huge crack opened up (but not all the way through) I sent it to be repaired and it took months then I got it back and the crack was totally invisible until a couple weeks later when it was bigger than the first time. So it dissappeared again for a few months (thats another story). Other than the cracks it plays EXTREMELY well and has a great character to it. After I got it back this time the cracks were totally invisible (and still never went all the way through) I didn't know much about clarinets at the time or wood care or anything. My thinking was since it was cracked it must be junk. (I'll admit this was a little shady on my part) I decided to send it to a local chain instrument retailer to see how much they would give me for it since the cracks were currently invisible. They offered me 10$... and I said... "wait... as in 10 dollars?" and the response was "well there wasnt even a mouthpiece with it" so I guess if I threw in a no-name stock 5$ mouthpiece I'd have gotten 1,000$ for it? I then said... you know this is an R13 right? and they said yes. I can assure you I play on that thing all the time and theres nothing wrong with it other than the fact it looks bad (dirty, tarnished, fading) but the pads are great and everything. My question is... is 10$ a well founded offer for my instrument? (Im not selling it anymore... but I just always wanted to know)

Tom
