I learned a good deal of the circular breathing technique by filling the mouth with water,
and then push the water out with the cheek muscles, while breathing in at the same time through the nose.
After I got that nicely done, switched to the instrument and used a tone with sufficient, but not too much resistance and tried keeping volume, pitch and overall stability while doing the same.
I am using circular breathing every now and then for long passages.
It is a completely different story to do it while playing any faster passages ;-)
(though it is a simple matter of practising, I suppose)

Once I watched Clark Terry demonstrate circular breathing during a Master Class in the Swiss Jazz School in Bern.
It was amazing. Fluent, streaming notes, without any hint that he was breathing and he went on and on...

Another occasion to watch masters of circular breathing was during a Tourist even in Shenzhen/China.
A Chinese ethnic music group playing the Suona - Chinese double reeds trumpet - were all using this technique to blast out their chinese folk songs.

Good luck - it is not so difficult !
