Quintet of the Americas Presents Two Summer Solstice Concerts in Queens =
on June 21 and 22 =96 Presented in Cooperation with Latin American =
Cultural Center of Queens
New York, NY =96 The Quintet of the Americas will perform two Summer =
Solstice concerts in Queens on Tuesday, June 21 at 11 AM at the =
Salvation Army Temple, 86-07 35th Avenue in Jackson Heights, and on =
Wednesday, June 22 at 12:15 PM at Catholic Charities Neighborhood =
Services Bayside Senior Center, 221-15 Horace Harding Boulevard, in =
Bayside. These events are presented in cooperation with the Latin =
American Cultural Center of Queens, Nayibe Berger, Director.
The programs will feature music from the Quintet=92s Sounds of Brazil CD =
and will also include two premieres, Little Polka by Douglaston-resident =
composer James Cohn and Water Run from Kukulkan III by David Dzubay. =
Also on the program - Shout Chorus by Kenji Bunch, Sfumato by Yao Chen, =
and Azalea by Duke Ellington.
The June 21 and 22 concerts are free and open to the public. For more =

Members of Quintet of the Americas are Sato Moughalian, flute, Matt =
Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and =
Maureen Strenge, bassoon. Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the =
Quintet has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to =
audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. =
The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to =
concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe. They are =
currently in residence in The Department of Music and Performing Arts in =
