The 560 actually supports the bass clarinet at 3 points, and can be adjusted to support at the floor peg as well. In addition to the padded U that supports the bell just below its rim, there is a second adjustable pad against which the front of the lower bell curve rests, and the secondary stand arm which supports the back of the clarinet tube (location adjustable). As both the front and rear stand arms are adjustable in height, the stand can be adjusted to allow the floor peg to rest on the stand as well. If properly used, it's difficult to imagine this stand damaging the clarinet. I liked mine so well I picked up one of their sax stands.
