At the time of the 1950's recordings of the Mozart Concerto and Quintet, he
would have been playing Selmers. He worked with the company to INTRODUCE
the Series 9. He only fell for the Buffet "mystique" later in his career,
after his ears and chops were gone. ;-) There is no reason to presume he
would have played anything other than an A clarinet when called for in his
classical playing. He certainly could afford to, and Selmer would have
provided one free anyway.
