Subj: [kl] Thoughts on the sax-bothering-my-thumb thing
Date: Wed, 01 Jun 2011 15:24:58 -0400

I'm thinking this could be as simple as a hand position problem. When I fir=
st =

started playing alto sax, I noticed that if my right hand was positioned as=
it =

is when I play clarinet (which is where it automatically went), it was too =
high. =

The first finger on my right hand was on the keycup above the key it should=
've =

been on. Which meant that my second finger was on the key that my first fin=
ger =

should've been on, and so on down the line. I still have to consciously che=
ck =

from time to time=A0to make sure my fingers are on the correct keys and not=
the =

ones above. I think I'm straining my thumb bringing my hand down to cover t=
he =

keys in the right spots. That's the main thing I can think of. The left han=
d =

side keys are still awkward for me; thankfully, I rarely use them.
