What I mean by that is the interval of the 12th not being in tune with itself
(narrow vs. wide). The note I play after hitting the register key is flatter
than the note I play before hitting the register key; the 12th is narrow because
it's slightly less than a truly in-tune 12th. I hope I explained that correctly.

As far as the mouthpiece comment, I assume it's me and not the mouthpiece since
it happens on all my clarinets, not just my A and Bb (Vandoren M13 series 13 on
those, Vandoren B40 on Eb, and Vandoren B45 on bass). It could be that, though.
