Is the mouthpiece "you" or "equipment?"

Subject: [kl] Adjusting 12ths

I've hear a lot that if players have uneven 12ths, their intervals tend to
be
too wide. When I play, if my 12ths are uneven, it's because they are too
narrow.
What causes this? I don't think it's a lack of support thing. My teacher
says
that if anything, I need more support on the lower notes; those are the ones
that tend to die. He also says that more support will bring up my throat
tones
which tend to flatten out (also playing with a Chadash barrel; I'm not sure
if
that's part of the issue, but the other barrel I own is cracked so I'm not
sure
if that would help me). I think this is a me thing as opposed to an
equipment
thing since it happens on any instrument that I play.

Any suggestions on fixing this issue?

Rachel
