Hi Robert, I took your advice and at least called them.
They are not looking for anything from the 20th century. They are looking for
items that are several centuries old. In fact she was so stumped, she did not
know where to send me either.

But thank you. I do appreciate your time.

Heather Schopper

Everyday is a new chance to see how much fun I can have.

Re: Metal bass clarinets...I have a lovely bass clarinet in metal by
Kohlert, which belonged in 1978 to the bands at Case Western Reserve
University. I was band manager and I bought it for $50 in graduation gift
money. It was then stolen from the band room after my check had been
accepted but before I graduated, and the college refused to reimburse me.
It cost less than my deductable so I was screwed.

In 2006 I saw it advertised at Vintage Instruments in Philadelphia. The
inscription, which I had added 28 years before, convinced the dealer to take
it off sale. The consignor, who had come across it in a shop in Indiana,
gave it to me for his cost in 1979. Everyone ended up happy.

I have not played it since 1978. However, I most heartily recommend Fred
Oster, proprietor of Vintage Instruments, for his integrity.

Cheers,

Robert Howe
