Quintet of the Americas in Performance at Princeton Public Library in =
New Jersey on May 15
New York, NY =96 Quintet of the Americas woodwind ensemble will be in =
concert on Sunday, May 15 =96 3:00 PM in the Community Room of the =
Princeton Public Library, 65 Witherspoon Street in Princeton, New Jersey.
The program on literature and music will feature Judah Adashi=92s Songs =
and Dances of Macondo. The fictional town of Macondo is the setting of =
Nobel Prize-winner Gabriel Garcia Marquez=92 novel One Hundred Years of =
Solitude, on which the composer=92s suite for woodwind quintet (here =
imagined as a band of street musicians) is based.
Other works on the program are the Maya Angelou movement of Freeing the =
Caged Bird by Barbara Harbach, Jiminez Suite by Charles B. Griffin =
inspired by poetry of Juan Ramon Jiminez and Colombian dances. Judah =
Adashi will give a pre-concert lecture about the work. Read a Princeton =

Members of Quintet of the Americas are Sato Moughalian, flute, Matt =
Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and =
Maureen Strenge, bassoon. Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the =
Quintet has specialized in bringing new music from the Western =
hemisphere to audiences in the United States since its arrival in New =
York in 1979. The group has enjoyed an international career that has =
taken them to concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe. =
They are currently in residence in The Department of Music and =
Performing Arts in The Steinhardt School at New York University. Visit =
