Quintet of the Americas in Performance at Symphony Space in Manhattan on =

May 14 as Part of Wall to Wall Sonidos

New York, NY =96 Quintet of the Americas woodwind ensemble will be in =

concert on Saturday, May 14 at the Peter Jay Sharp Theatre of Symphony =

Space, 2537 Broadway in Manhattan. The Quintet will be part of Wall to =

Wall Sonidos, and will perform at 1:15 PM and 3:30 PM that day.

At 1:15 the Quintet will perform tangos with Daniel Binelli, bandoneon, =

Polly Ferman, piano and singer Chris Vasquez. Repertoire will be =

Premieres of Binelli=92s New York Tango and Corales de Hawai, along with =

works by Sebastian Piana, Astor Piazzolla, Angel Villoldo, Carlos Gardel =

and Virgilio Expositos.

The 3:30 performance will present the Quintet with the Colorado String =

Quartet in music from Mexico. The Quintet will perform Danza de mediod=EDa =

by Arturo M=E1rquez; Matt Sullivan, oboist, will perform Upingos by =

Carlos Chavez and The Quintet will be joined by the Colorado Quartet to =

perform Suite de Gargantua, a nonet by Mario Lavista.

The Wall to Wall series is Symphony Space's annual gift to New York, =

this year exploring the breadth and depth of Latino cultures. This free =

event features a stellar roster of artists and a number of commissioned =

works receiving their world premiere performances. The concert facility =

Members of Quintet of the Americas are Sato Moughalian, flute, Matt =

Sullivan, oboe, Nicholas Gallas, clarinet, Barbara Oldham, horn and =

Maureen Strenge, bassoon. Founded in Bogota, Colombia in 1976, the =

Quintet has specialized in bringing music from the Western hemisphere to =

audiences in the United States since its arrival in New York in 1979. =

The group has enjoyed an international career that has taken them to =

concert halls throughout the Americas and Eastern Europe. They are =

currently in residence in The Department of Music and Performing Arts in =
