Dear all,

I don't know what happened in reality, but I don't think that the second
movement of the Three Pieces is practical in a transposition on a B-flat
clarinet. If Allegra premiered the work, it probably means that he was
in close contact with Stravinsky -- I'm just guessing -- and the
composer would have probably avoided to require an A clarinet for this
work if the player could not play it.

Cheers,
Diego

PS. I'm Italian and I was trained in transposition following the
tradition. But there are technical limits to what one can achieve: it
is not just a reading problem :-)
