My source was Augustin Duqu=E8s. It was my recollection that he premiered =
the
Trio version but not the Septet version of "L'Histoire" and toured with
pianist JosIturbi and a violinist whose name I've forgotten. I readily
admit that I could be mistaken.

Dear Steve,

I returned the book to the library, but there's a poster of the premier in
Robert Craft's book, "Stravinsky in Pictures and Document." An article in
the Clarinet journal, Vol. 32, No. 2, 2009 also stated that Allegra
premiered the Three Pieces and L'Histoire du Soldat.

Stravinsky completed the work in November 1919. Eric Walter White's book,
"Stravinsky: Composer and His Works," also stated 3 concerts where this work
was heard in 1919: Nov 8, Nov 20, and Dec 17th. All performances were
sponsored by Reinhart, and Allegra played both the Three Pieces and the Trio
in these concerts.

Could you enlighten us of your source of information that Augustin Duqu=E8s
premiered the trio?

I was always under the impression that the French clarinetist Augustin
Duqu=E8s premiered the Trio version of L'Histoire. He was later Principal
Clarinet in the New York Symphony under Walter Damrosch and the NBC Symphony
under Arturo Toscanini. What is your source of information?
