Hello,

I meant an octave lower, of course. =

Schwenck & Seggelke make a good picksuesse hoelzl (that's the "official" or=
thography if you don't have umlaute, Austrian pronunciation is like picksia=
ahsse hoeltsl) =

http://www.schwenk-und-seggelke.de/klarinetten_2000.php

It has to have a simple key layout because it is so small. Needless to say,=
intonation is a major problem.
I tried several cheaper ones from italian makers, some of them boehm system=
, but they were all terrible. =

In Vienna various people own and play instruments that are either old or ma=
de by O. Hammerschmidt (I suppose). =

I've seen some at Tony Bingham's shop in London over the years. The old Vie=
nnese pitch was very high, so the historic hoelzl was actually the same as =
the Italian high Ab. But I can assure you, it is not a toy. You have to pra=
ctice hard in order to make it sing, but it can be ravishing if played by a=
n expert.

Best wishes
danyel
