wow. you're right. nothing is working. I have no idea. maybe we did something like 16th notes instead at pp so it wasnt noticeable? I'm half making that up but it seems like maybe it happened.

The best I can come up with is if you finger D and hold it like that the entire time and then roll your index finger into the A key then it kind of makes a Bb and its easy to do.
