Nancy,

I am not so sure that a fingering difference between two basset horns would
enable them to be characterized as a different type of basset horn. Some
clarinets have keys on them that are not on other clarinets, but they are
both clarinets. (For example, a low E-flat present on one instrument but
absent on another.)

And you are right, though your expression needs a more precise description.
Opinion IS OFTEN NOT FACTUAL, though it might turn out to be.
