Any advice as to good baroque style wood recorders?

Hi Kathy,
I use two treble recorders, one by Mollenhauer, one by Kung. They are both good, but the Mollenhauer has more 'edge' when played against modern instruments, particularly if I have to play with (or against) a piano. This is the old "Tuju" model and looks externally more like a Renaissance recorder, but the bore is Baroque. It was not expensive, far less than the Moeck "Rotenburg", which I never really liked and eventually sold. This would probably be the better choice in an ensemble with C clarinet. I have played a Dolmetsch hand-made treble, and would love one, but I can't afford the price!
The cheap Aulos trebles are surprisingly good; especially if you 'dull' the very high polish of the bore. I use scouring powder on an old mop and work towards a "satin" or semi-matt finish; this stabilizes the intonation considerably.
Martin
