Thank you Tom, your reply was brilliant. You are dead right about the notes being too even, as I found by listening to a few different recordings. Perhaps I do one too many staccato exercises so my tongue becomes a speed gun. I think the best thing is to listen to as many recordings as possible. But you know, I am thinking of relearning recorder (yes, you know we all did in primary school, horrid things) because I'm not convinced the clarinet is the right instrument for pieces that sound wonderfully breathy on flute. Any advice as to good baroque style wood recorders?
