one thing to note is that excessive moisture may cause rust on springs, if
they are blue steel rather than brass. I think heat and temperature can
cause problems: Boosey used to advertise bakelite instruments "for regiments
that may be stationed in the tropics." it's the sudden change that causes
problems. If you know a cello player or guitarist, they'll probably have
plenty experience in defending timber
