I've heard that method suggested and I've been too afraid to try it. Knowing
that not rapid temperature changes affect the wood, I'd be afraid to put
something in the freezer to find it later all cracked up. I'm not sure how much
of a temperature change over a given period of time is safe, so I don't go that
route. The temperature changes all the time here in NY.
