There's no reason for this to work, but consider it. Wrap the ring in an =

electric retardant substance, ie cloth, tape or what else, heat it. The =

expznsion should do it.

Over the years, there has been a lot of discussion about tightening barrel =

and bell rings - but I have seen nothing about getting them off.=A0 I have =
in =

mind cutting down
one for playing at higher pitch - I have the tools for it - but will need =

to remove one ring to do the work.=A0 (I am starting out with an old plasti=
c =

barrel, of course!)

Any thoughts on how to get the ring(s) off?

George
