Dvorak 9 query.
The new Baerenreiter score has the articulations identical - the eighths are
all staccato without slurs. This new edition benefitted amongst other
sources from the discovery at the end of the 1980s of the (not now
complete) set of orchestral parts used by the New York Phil for the
premiere and for the first engraving, which also helped create a new
performing edition for Breitkopf and Haertel in 1990.
Incidentally, at rehearsal figure 4 in the last movement, the trumpets
(marked in E as throughout) play their fanfare on the thirds of the chords (B
in G and F# in D), but many conductors and players think it's a
mistransposed passage and should be in C for these 14 bars making the
notes more commonplace on roots of the chords. What do your
trumpeters/conductor think?
