For your amusement, here's a recording of me playing "Tribute to Artie
Shaw" with the Tualatin Valley Community Band a decade ago. I was never
able to master the long glissando in "Begin the Beguine", and I didn't
do nearly the improvisation that I could have, but overall I was pretty
happy with this. This was with my trusty plastic Vito and a L=E8g=E9re ree=

I got one of the best compliments of my life after that performance. =

The mother of a high-school clarinetist in our band came up to me after
the concert and said, "Are you sure you and Evan play the same
instrument? Because when he plays, it doesn't sound like that."
