I mostly lurk on this list but wanted to respond to the comment below. WWBW has been getting the Backun barrels from what was most likely Morrie Backun's largest (maybe only) distributor. The likelihood of counterfeit product is nearly nil. The only way it could occur would be if a customer bought a real one from us and returned a fake and we did not catch it in our returns department. Our returns department is extremely thorough and it seems unlikely that a fake could be good enough to get through.

Also, WWBW remains committed to customer service as does the manufacturer. I see that Morrie Backun has already offered a new barrel at no charge, but I am sure the original poster would have received the same service from us had he requested it. If there is anything I can do personally, I will.

Regarding the barrel being old - that is possible. While none of our stock is that old (most of our stock is only a few months old) I can't vouch for how long it has sat on the distributors shelf before we get it. I can only hope that they manage their inventory appropriately to prevent that from happening.

If anyone has questions, please feel free to contact me off list.

Heck, you might even have bought stolen or fake merchandise. The
maker has rights, too. Morrie Backun is very reputable, and will go the
extra mile for his customers always...you CAN depend on that!
