I have a fair number of them. A few have been tight, but I have had them sa=
nded, and then they were fine. (This has been the case for the bells too: I=
have the reverse problem with a gorgeous rosewood bell which is too big). =
My favorites are the fatboys.

Ah, thank-you for that.=A0 that makes sense.=A0 I wasn't even aware that th=
e wood didn't touch on the inside (well in my case it probably does).=A0 We=
ll Unfortunately, the damage is done and I cant sand anything now.=A0 I sti=
ll want to try some of their other barrels at some point so I will keep som=
e sandpaper handy just in case.=A0 Is it totally safe to just sand the insi=
de of the barrel like that though?

ve wood-on-wood binding. The tenon on your A is apparently very slightly la=
rger than your Bb tenon, just enough to stress the barrel and ultimately ge=
t it stuck. A little hand work with a piece of sandpaper can fix that. Ring=
less barrels are cracks looking for an opportunity to happen.

w why so I exchanged it (this was all done through wwbw not backun). Then j=
ust today it cracked even worse. I realized that it happened while I was pu=
tting the barrel on becuase I heard it crack. It fit perfectly on my Bb cla=
rinet but difficulty on my A clarinet. I put TONS of cork grease on AND I s=
haved the cork down. I called backun to ask if they werent made for A clari=
nets and they said it should fit and told me that I must not be putting eno=
ugh cork grease on or I must be forcing it. Basically, I understood my conv=
ersation to mean, its not possible they did anything wrong so we dont care =
about your problems.

ard to beleive I'm strong enough to make the thing crack so bad. I didn't h=
ave to force it on that much it was just difficult to get it on. What i was=
wondering if maybe the wood is just totally dried out or something conside=
ring the weather and the fact that they shipped it to a retail warehouse an=
d it just sat in there for however long before shipping. I really don't wna=
t another one anymore I would rather just write off the 100$ rather than co=
ntinue this hassle. =

uase it cracked right when I put it on so it doesn't need to cool off or an=
ything)
