Indeed not. The forces involved in cracking are far too high. The purpose is
merely an emergency repair to stop a leak (crack right through) and get
through a concert.

When my bass clarinet cracked DURING a concert once, I resorted to filling
the crack with saliva just before each low passage. Got me through!

Wax & tape won't stop the crack growing.

Oh man, that is exactly what I did - wax. =A0But I also put scotch tape
over it after speaking with my NY repairman Woitek Komsta (maybe
someone on the list knows him?). =A0Anyway, the crack, all though quite
long (from the top, through the "prestige" label and until the A key)
is not all the way through the bore. =A0The horn played well for
yesterday's concert, so I'm just hoping it will make it until the end
of the week. So.... whats the judgement? =A0Wax and scotch tape over the
crack that doesn't go through to the bore, to prevent it from growing.
=A0Thumbs up or down? =A0

You are correct.=A0 If the crack does not penetrate the bore, putting
wax in it does nothing.=A0 Super glue might prevent the crack from
growing, though.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is TOO LOUD!
