Klarinet Archive - Posting 000305.txt from 2011/01

The problem with teaching that there is only one proper way to articulate is that it presumes everyones anatomy (mouth/tongue structure) is identical - which of course is untrue. I've come to the conclusion after 50+ years of playing that the best a teacher can do is to introduce the student to all reasonable techniques and then let them experiment. All that really matters is the end product. It is the teachers task then to help the student recognize when the best sound has been achieved.
