Not to beat a dead horse Kathy, I not only don't agree with your perception
of the emotional content of the two works, I just don't see any useful
purpose in trying to find one. Also, one can argue that any composition is
the presentation of note combinations in a different order and with a
different harmonic structure. That is the nature of music.

In effect, there are lots of things to learn when listening to either work,
but suggesting that the concerto slow movement is one of intense sadness
offers an opinion that is entirely personal to your ears and mind and may
not be shared by anyone else in the world. I don't hear the compositions
the way you describe them.

What concerns me is that some younger player might read your note and hear
your very effective performance and feel guilty because he or she doesn't
find those things in the work I always felt intimidated when people
described music to me in that fashion, when, in fact, they were simply
describing their personal reactions to a piece and assuming that everyone
felt that way.
