There is a pretty good documentary floating around, "The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive," by Stephen Fry who states up front that he has bipolar disorder. It is available in Region 2 format (the U.K., Europe and the Middle East) at amazon.com as well as via peer-to-peer file sharing (ahem!) in Microsoft avi format. Fry is candid also about not wanting to go on medication to treat the condition because he feels that his manic states are the source of his creativity. Most unfortunately, for those of us who have people in our families with the condition, both the manic and depressive states make them a pain in the neck every time they decide to go off their medication and is the primary reason why friends drift away and/or keep them at arm's length (in my opinion).

Anyway, the documentary is an interesting chronicle of Fry's problems.
