To admit that you have played 1000 Nutcrackers and are still not tired of it
is a sign of masochism. Beat me, I love it!! As a sign of my good
upbringing, I played between 800 and 1000 over a 30 year period and every
one was misery.

I even got a concussion in one performance. The stage directed decided to
use mechanical mice for the mouse fight, and they were all controlled by
radio. One mouse wandered too near the lip of the stage, fell off, and
landed on my head. The damn thing weighed about 5 pounds and I was out like
a light. When smelling salts woke me up during the intermission, the
contractor said, "You'll have to play the second act."
