Michael Han Kim is 14 now. He attended Tanglewood this past summer with a student of mine. He lives in Soeul, South Korea. My son has chatted a lot with him.
Along with being a clarinetist , he's a 4th degree Black belt.

No doubt about it. The kid is a terrific player, considering his age and
what I perceive as very insular training, meaning that he has learned the
work the Japanese way.

He needs to spend a year or two in Salzburg at the music school of the
Mozarteum in order to learn something about the Mozart concerto. His
Eingang in the slow movement definitely needs a better understanding of how
that classical conceit is performed. And he needs a better edition than the
one he used. It predates the NMA volume and retains all the flaws of early
edition.

And as for his distracting body motions, that needs serious work.

Does someone know how old this kid is?
