The new E-11 Intermediate is more or less equivalent to the old
Schreiber-made E-11. The E-11 PRO has some differences, although I hesitate
to say that they are enough to be WORTH twice as much. The new E-11
Intermediate has a fixed thumbrest, which is OK with me because the old
adjustable ones with their pot-metal screws cause a lot of headaches. They
dropped the silver plate on the keys, too, leaving that feature for the PRO
model.

Frankly, I don't understand the customer infatuation with the E-11,
including the older ones. They typically have poorly formed tone holes and
lousy pads. We need to do extensive work to nearly every one we receive in
stock in order to make them playable. But they have the name "Buffet"
stamped on the front (wisely in ink that disappears after a couple of years)
so everybody thinks they are wonderful and any comparable product with
another name (even if it is the identical Schreiber!) is inferior! The
confusion caused by having two DIFFERENT models with the same name is
troubling, and I think, deliberate. They are trying to sell people UP to
the "advanced" model while still trading on the known "E-11" name. Buy a
Yamaha YCL-450 or YCL-650 instead. They are better R-13 copies than the
E-11's are.

(Disclaimer: Our company sells Buffet, Yamaha AND Schreiber, along with
Selmer, Leblanc, Jupiter, etc.)
