Thanks, Kathy.
Firstly, I would like to know the advantage of the fatboy barrel- I have
read about it.
I believe it is something for profesionals. I am only an amateur, "the best"
clarinet player among retired chemical engineers and perhaps "the best
retired chemical enginer" among clarinet players, so I am afraid it would
not help me much. I am not sure that even anybody would notice me using it.
The bell with the slight cavity in it I have tested a day ago- I put the
bell of the Yamaha CX on my Buffet and the colour of the sound was
significantly more dark.
Secondly, I am practicing scales with heavy accent on pentatonics and blues
scales with chord progressions like turn around. For improving my fingering
I am using the same school that I started with 50 years ago, it is the
Kroepsch Lancelot Etudes pour clarinette. In our country(=Slovenia) students
do Kroepsch at all levels. It seems that the authors collected most
unpleasant finger progressions for each scale. You can repeat a simple etude
for hours.
