I tried swaying like that while playing- bending at the waist and
pointing the clarinet to the floor and then straightening up,
rotating 60 degrees and pointing to the floor again. It isn't
easy. It also distracted ME from what I was doing (but perhaps
because I am just a beginning swayer, and have not yet internalized
the dance). You are correct though, her playing speaks for itself
and does not need theatrics. It reminds me of Andre Watts, the great
pianist. He made exaggerated FACIAL expressions with his mouth as he
emoted. Also distracting.
