Spend some time on Google. *Lots* of folks thought Lennie's histrionics
were a bit over the top.

I don't mind so much if a conductor dances for the audience instead of
assisting the musicians (their one and only true function) - great
orchestras don't need that much help, at least for pieces firmly in the
canon. After all, no one ever hears a conductor.

For musicians - the people actually producing the sounds we like to hear - I
find excess movement to be an affectation, taking away from the performance.

Of course, this is an instrument that *requires* some movement to produce
tone. Clarinet, no.

There are a pile of masterclasses by JH on Youtube. We can learn a lot by
viewing them.
