Yes, it's a scam. There are any number of variations, but in any case an
offer to buy that has any of the phrases "global shipping company" ,
"certified check" Western Union", "My partner will pick up", "modality",
"mode of paymeny", "my client" and a few more that I forgot are highly
suspect.

I get a few a day asking me to sell them something from "my store." I don't
have a store ...

Before that, I also received a similar, but less vague response to
which I replied with my name, address, and phone number - information
anyone can get from a simple internet search or by looking in a phone
book. This email reminds me of those "my daughter is coming to your
area to study and need a teacher for clarinet one hour every day"
emails that started up about four years back. Mostly it's suspect
because nearly all of the questions in his email are answered in my
ad. Well, that and "my global shipping company" will come to my
house?!?! Yeah, right!

Have any of you had similar problems?
Do you think this person is trying to get my identity?
Any other ideas?

Thanks all for your help!

Sean
