It is frustrating that one must be conventional to receive a serious
response. However, whether you respond is definitely your prerogative
(you may not be up for or interested in following a round-about route
someone else is leading to sell your items). You have a good point
that the information is readily available. This person may just be
interested in following their route and not yours.

You could simply respond straight-forwardly, either answering the
questions, to the extent you are willing or directing this person to
the information requested. Like you say, your name and address are
available online, so I'd think that if that person really wanted your
identity, (s)he would presumably search the internet. Yet keeping
one's identity separate from, for example email messages, can be an
indirect expression of a preference to restrict email correspondence
to email.

It might be a scam (asking whether some thing in an ad for sale is
available for sale sounds redundant).

It can definitely be uncomfortable running into unconventional
methods, especially if those methods are traditionally associated with
fraud or other such underhanded behaviors.

Was the similar, less vague response from the same person?
