Following the recent thread on pitch it is interesting to seeProf.Nikolaus Harnoncourt's letter in the Galpin Society Newsletter N0.28. He advocates a pitch between A=430 and A=435. He is asking for comments and research results prior to a conference in Vienna. Also he mentions that certain singers now refuse to perform in Vienna because of the high pitch there and makes the interesting comment that the reason for pitch 'creep' is that in any chord with bad intonation this is caused by certain notes being flat rather than by others being sharp. Intriguing idea what!!
