Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy in Concert November 9, 12 and 14 in =
Boston, Massachusetts
Clarinetist Michael Norsworthy will be featured in three performances in =
the coming week:
Tuesday, November 9 =96 8 PM =96 Mr. Norsworthy will be soloist in Pozzi =
Escot=92s Concerto for Clarinet and Ensemble at New England Conservatory=92=
s =
Jordan Hall, 290 Huntington Avenue in Boston, Massachusetts. This will =
be part of "Fierce Singleness" a program of music by Robert Cogan and =
Pozzi Escot.
The Concerto was written for Mr. Norsworthy in 2004 and has been =
recorded for the Albany Records CD Boston Diary (Troy 1176).

Friday, November 12 =96 8 PM =96 Norsworthy will perform Pierre Boulez=92 =
Dialoque de l'ombre double for clarinet and tape at Seully Hall of The =
Boston Conservatory, 8 The Fenway in Boston. This performance is part of =
the school=92s 2010-2011 New Music Festival, titled Celebrating Pierre =
Boulez: Discovering Jean Barraqu=E9.
Sunday, November 14 =96 8 PM =96 Mr. Norsworthy will perform Boulez=92 Deri=
ve =
II, again at Seully Hall as part of Boston Conservatory=92s 2010-2011 New =
Music Festival.

Michael Norsworthy is Artist in Residence at Harvard University, =
Principal Clarinet of the Boston Modern Orchestra Project and a faculty =
member of The Boston Conservatory. A dedicated and persuasive champion =
of the music of our time, he has given premieres of over 80 works in =
collaboration with composers Harrison Birtwistle, Elliott Carter, Chris =
Dench, Pozzi Escot, Brian Ferneyhough, Michael Finnissy, Lukas Foss, =
Hans Werner Henze, Magnus Lindberg, Ralph Shapey and Marc Anthony =
Turnage, among others.
As soloist, Michael Norsworthy has performed an extensive repertoire of =
concerti, ranging from Mozart to Ferneyhough, with the Aspen =
Contemporary Ensemble, Callithumpian Consort, NEC Contemporary Ensemble, =
Pottstown Symphony, Soria Chamber Players, Southern Illinois Symphony =
and Symphony Pro Musica, while audiences have heard his numerous =
recitals in New York, Boston, Cambridge, Chicago and St. Louis. =
Conductors he has worked with include Boulez, DePriest, Knussen, Levine, =
Muti, Robertson, Ozawa, Tilson Thomas and many others. Michael =
Norsworthy plays on Buffet Clarinets and mouthpieces by Kalmen Opperman.
