Jennifer,

>From L-R in the picture are a bass clarinet, alto clarinet, soprano
clarinet (most certainly in Bb), and (depending on what name you prefer) a: (1) Eb
contrabass clarinet, or (2) an Eb contra alto clarinet, or (3) a contra alto
clarinet. At any rate, the instrument pictured is a Leblanc "paperclip"
model with a range to a written low C because the bell extends to the top of
the top bend. If the instrument were a (1) Bb contrabass clarinet, or simply
(2) a contrabass clarinet "paperclip" model, the top bend and the bell
would be about 12" above the player's head.

Hope that helps.

P.s. While I play a low C "paperclip" Bb contrabass clarinet, there are
many other contra alto instruments (I play on a vintage Selmer Bundy) that are
far superior in tone quality to the Eb "paperclip." Of course, you mileage
may vary.
