I think you mean the "Hooked On..." series that played on pop stations
with an incessant drum beat in the background. "Switched On Bach" was
the ground-breaking Wendy Carlos album using the brand new Moog
synthesizer. Although the instrumentation was not authentic ;) , Wendy
cared very much about the music, and did her very best not to alter the
notes. She took excruciating care to choose timbres that blended well
and were pleasant to the ear.
