Jennifer.
I don't really think that Vann was serious.
I have in fact perpetrated (I won't say played) ALL the parts of the Mozart quintet at various times; Violins 1 & 2 on C clarinet, viola on Bflat (it's easy if you read Bass clef) and the 'cello part on bassoon. I've only played the clarinet part (on A clarinet ) on a couple of occasions and never in public. The point is it is such a marvellous work it is wonderful to play any of the parts (and you really get to know it too) but I have never pretended I was playing what Mozart intended; I wouldn't dare to be so arrogant. But Boy! have I enjoyed doing it, and so have the other players.

Mr. Vann Joe Turner,

My you are wandering. I think it is the requirements of the callow
young man you are criticizing. Not those of Martin.

And who said they are improvements? ...seems to me they are just differences.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Jones
