James Lincoln Collier's biography of Goodman. There may be better Goodman bios, but that's the one I know and own.

Halsey Stevens' biography of Bartok.

these books might point to more primary source material - don't know for sure, and don't have time to check right now.

Also, Maureen Hurd (Hause) did her thesis on some of Goodman's classical commissions. She's at Rutgers U in New Jersey (US), dissertation at Yale. You can find her on Facebook.
