Palisades Virtuosi Presents Myths and Legends Concert on October 23 in =

Ridgewood, New Jersey

Ridgewood, NJ - The critically-acclaimed Palisades Virtuosi presents =

Myths and Legends - the first concert of their 2010-2011 season on =

Saturday, October 23 - 8 PM at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 =

Cottage Place in Ridgewood, New Jersey. The evening will also include a =

silent auction beginning at 7 PM and a pre concert talk at 7:15.

This program features two World Premieres commissioned by the Virtuosi =96 =

Mythic Serenade by David Gilbert and Time Unheard by James Chwalyk. =

Other works on the program are The Sea Nymphs for bass clarinet and =

piano by Godfrey Schroth (who has been commissioned by the Virtuosi), =

Katherine Hoover=92s Kokopeli for solo flute and Brahms=92 Preludes for sol=
o =

piano.

David Gilbert has been active as both composer and conductor. His works =

have been performed by major ensembles in both the U.S. and Europe. In =

addition to vocal, chamber, and concerto works, he is currently setting =

the Yeats play, The Shadowy Waters as a full-length opera.

James Chwalyk is a recent graduate of Montclair State University, where =

he earned degrees in Music Education and Music Theory and Composition. =

He currently teaches instrumental music to students in grades 6-8 in the =

Lyndhurst Public School District (NJ). His music can be heard at =

Tickets for the October 23 concert are $20 and $15 for students and =

Funding for this concert is made possible in part by the NJ State =

Council on the Arts/Department of State, through grant funds =

administered by the Bergen County Dept. of Parks, Division of Cultural =

The Palisades Virtuosi, consisting of flutist Margaret Swinchoski, =

clarinetist Donald Mokrynski and pianist Ron Levy, is a 501 (c)(3) =

organization established to promote and enrich the repertoire for flute, =

clarinet and piano and present concerts that include existing and =

newly-commissioned repertoire for this configuration (each of their =

concerts includes a work commissioned by the ensemble), supplemented by =

solos, duos and larger works featuring guest artists. Volumes One, Two =
