I agree with the folks who say that it is a tough job. On the surface it seems to be easy, but doing it well is the problem. To be able to have a pad even and sealing all around and at the proper height is tough enough. Multiply that by the number of pads on the instrument. Then get it all regulated and working together. If not done well, there can be countless problems that make the instrument barely playable. Poor repairs are certainly one factor why young students end up frustrated. They are often trying to play instruments that don't work properly.

I leave it to the pros.
