Klarinet Archive - Posting 000012.txt from 2010/10

Subj: [kl] Selmer CL 210 post under G#4 key
Date: Mon, 04 Oct 2010 09:15:57 -0400

I was having the most difficult time the other day getting my clarion
Bb to speak properly (especially on the fourth phrase of the first mvt
of Brahms second sonata). My high clarion B is also squeaking. I
think it is because I bump the G# key. I have thought about bending
the key down a bit, but there is this post positioned beneath it which
keeps it from going all the way down to the wood, and, if I bent the
key down much I am afraid that the pad would not raise high enough
above the G# tone hole. I have tried keeping my left index finger
more curved, but that position does not seem to be compatible with the
size of the pad of my finger. Does anyone know a work-around, short
of filing that post down?

Thank you for your attention.

Sincerely,

Jennifer Jones
